About Sound and Music Therapy...
Music Therapy unites the fields of music and therapy to provide a creative treatment and medium. Music Therapy combines music with humanistic, psychodynamic, behavioural, and biomedical approaches to help you attain therapeutic goals. These goals can be mental, physical, emotional, social, and/or spiritual in nature. Your problems or needs are addressed both through the therapeutic relationship between you and music therapist, as well as approached directly through the music itself.
Sound not only affects our state of mind, but can be actually used to improve our health. Sound Therapy is one such system that is used to dramatically change your health. When exposed to loud sounds such as loud music, or the steady, abundant noise of big cities, our hearing becomes gradually desensitised to hearing sound frequencies in the higher pitches. This results in a gradual decrease in your energy level, irritability to other sound around you, and even withdrawing from society.
Sound and Music Therapy uses sound to exercise you to re-sensitise your ear’s ability to once again hear those higher frequencies. The benefits are increased energy, less irritability, and opening up again to experiencing the outside world.
